Where design intent becomes built reality

The specification & procurement partner to the hospitality design industry

FF&E specification writing and procurement coordination for hotels, resorts, restaurants — translating creative vision into durable, brand-aligned, buildable documentation.

Whether it’s a 140-key hotel, restaurant, or resort, we produce the documentation that ensures what gets built matches what was designed. No detail missed, no spec left ambiguous.

About

Lucy McCormick

Spec Nest Studio was founded by Lucy McCormick to help hospitality design firms bridge the gap between design vision and execution.

After more than sixteen years working across hospitality, food & beverage, and luxury residential projects, Lucy recognized a common challenge within the design industry: designers excel at creating compelling concepts and guest experiences, but projects succeed or fail in the details that follow. Specifications must be written, budgets managed, and hundreds of decisions documented, coordinated, and communicated across project teams.

Spec Nest Studio was created to operate at this critical intersection between creativity and execution.

We bring a designer's perspective to the highly detailed world of FF&E documentation and procurement coordination, helping firms translate creative vision into clear, actionable documentation while protecting design intent throughout the life of a project.

Lucy's career spans some of the industry's most respected design firms, including EDG Design, Ken Fulk, and Backen & Backen (formerly Backen Gillam Kroeger). She also spent seven years leading her own full-service interior design practice, providing firsthand experience managing projects from concept through installation. Most recently, she served as Principal, FF&E Design at Eigelberger A + D, leading FF&E strategy, documentation, and procurement coordination across a diverse portfolio of projects.

That full-service design background informs every aspect of Spec Nest Studio's work. FF&E documentation is not simply data entry, nor is procurement coordination merely order tracking. Effective specifications require an understanding of design intent, functionality, construction coordination, materiality, and budget.

Spec Nest Studio is not a purchasing agent. We act as an extension of the design team—representing the designer's vision throughout procurement and serving as a liaison between design firms, vendors, manufacturers, and purchasing agents. Our role is to help ensure that the finished project reflects the original vision approved by the client.
